Support Children and Young People in Our Community

At Support for Families (S4F), we believe that children and young people should play an active role in shaping services that affect them. We have listened to their voices and ensured that their views are at the core of everything we do.

Our commitment is to support every child and young person to grow up in a fair, healthy, and empowering environment.

This aligns with our mission to:

  • Reduce the isolation and stigma experienced by families and carers affected by substance use.

  • Raise awareness of the challenges affecting families and carers.

  • Influence responses to these issues at local and national levels.

  • Improve the skills and knowledge of the local community within the Stirling area in matters relating to problem substance use.

We uphold the following values:

  • Families need specialist support delivered by experienced, well-trained, and compassionate people.

  • The stigma and discrimination faced by families affected by substance use must be challenged.

  • Each family member is unique, and their individual needs should be recognised and respected.

  • A Trauma-Informed Approach is at the heart of everything we do.

How We Are Making a Difference

  • Listening to children and young people: We actively engage with young people to ensure their voices shape our services.

  • Providing safe spaces: Our services create welcoming environments where young people feel heard and valued.

  • Challenging inequality: We advocate for fair and equal treatment for all children and young people.

  • Supporting families in need: We provide practical support, including food assistance and financial guidance.

  • Prioritising mental health: We offer counselling and wellbeing programs to ensure young people receive the support they need.

  • Ensuring safety: We help young people understand their rights and provide protection from harm.

  • Helping families impacted by substance use: We offer a compassionate support network for children affected by a loved one’s addiction.

  • Encouraging youth development: We create opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and contribute through volunteering.

  • Offering free meals and social support through our Community Café, ensuring no family goes hungry.

Together, we can build a future where all children and young people have the opportunity to thrive.
